Coming Home
(Talia)

Written by Sanders/Fish

Vocals & Recorder by Margie Butler
Guitar by Paul Espinoza

Sung by Talia in the beginning of the book as she rides home

The months I traveled the open road.
Were a blur of trouble and pain.
So I spent my night dreaming of the time
When my path would turn homeward again
I saw the faces of simple folk,
Who reminded me what I once was,
And I blessed the hour I was Called away
To work for the Heralds' cause.

When I see the field in the sunlight, I know now I'm never alone,
For no matter how far I may travel, I feel like I'm coming home.

The smell of grass in the springtime,
Of flowers and leather and hay---
Those are things that will always remind me
Of the grateful and wonderful day
The spires of the ancient Collegium,
The view from my window there,
Have the power to chase all my woes away
And banish all the sorrow and care.

When I see the field in the sunlight, I know now I'm never alone,
For no matter how far I may travel, I feel like I'm coming home.

The Heralds here are my family
The Healers, students and Bards,
So many dear and constant friends
I hold in high regard.
But there's someone who is near to me
By day or by night, I feel
That the love and the comfort he offers
Are still incredibly real!

When I see the field in the sunlight, I know now I'm never alone,
For no matter how far I may travel, I feel like I'm coming home.

See the waving grass in the sunlight, and the bricks of golden stone.
Whenever I ride through those painted gates, I feel like I'm coming home,
I think that I'm almost home!
